Directions... From the South: Exit the M6 at J36, signed for South Lakes and Kendal. Head in the direction of Kendal, and then follow the A591 for Windermere. Stay on the A591 and follow the signs for Keswick and Ambleside Town Centre. You will be on the Ambleside one-way system on Rothay Road and will pass right in front of Compston House as you turn onto Compston Road. From the North: Follow signs to Ambleside Town Centre. You will be on the one-way system and will pass Market Cross on the right and the White Lion Hotel on the left. Turn right at Greggs Bakery onto Church Street. Compston House is at the bottom of the road, on the right. By Rail: Take the rail to Windermere Station; from there you can reach Ambleside by coach or taxi. The coach will drop you off just up the road from us. (You can see Compston House on your approach into town.)
